Following the launch of its predecessor, the HD 800, we were determined to view this product as the last of its kind in our audiophile production chain. Our goal was to produce sound with an intensity never before experienced, one that leaves no distinction between the original and its reproduction. Every single element of the HD 800 S is world-class. The successful symbiosis of every individual element of the HD 800 S creates the legendary Sennheiser sound. Let’s dive deeper into the matter.

The heart of the HD 800 S, the transducer technology featuring the innovative 56mm ring radiator, is responsible for its unique sound.
It utilizes the air displacement of a large speaker diaphragm while maintaining the rigidity of a smaller one. The result is lightning-fast response with incredible detail across the entire frequency range. The ring is attached circularly to the internal driver unit. The voice coil sets the diaphragm, anchored in a V-shaped groove of the ring, into vibration. The 40mm voice coil is a true work of art, masterfully crafted in our own production facility. Its shape and material meet the highest quality requirements.

The vibration-damping housing of the HD 800 S headphones, combined with the padded headband, ensures interference-free audio transmission and makes the distinction between the original production and its reproduction impossible.
Each individual transducer is handmade and tested in compliance with the strictest tolerances. This guarantees constant maximum performance. The steel mesh integrated into the baffle also makes a consistent contribution to minimal variance in the propagating sound waves. Audio quality that is in no way inferior to the original must reliably exclude the masking effect of certain frequencies. Therefore, we have integrated a patented frequency absorber, a technology similar to that of the groundbreaking IE 800 S, which minimizes resonances that usually hide small but essential sound details. Furthermore, the transducer system has been integrated into a vibration-free housing. We have used materials from the aerospace industry for this purpose. In combination with the aforementioned headband, the familiar frequency peaks of low frequencies are minimized, and the full potential of your system is brought out without restriction.
