The M2-R tonearms are the logical further development of SME's legendary 3009 series.

These precision-engineered tonearms embody long-proven SME virtues and are excellently suited for a wide spectrum of different MM and MC cartridges. The SME base allows for easy mounting on the turntable and perfect adjustment of the overhang. The classic SME headshell with bayonet mount allows for simple switching between different cartridge systems.

The tonearms have a lightweight and very rigid J-shaped bent tonearm tube made of polished stainless steel that is suitable for almost all cartridge types. The internal damping of the tonearm tube ensures optimal resonance behavior and outstanding tonality.

The classic headshell is made of aluminum and allows for azimuth correction of the cartridge. The tungsten counterweight can be supplemented with an additional weight. Thus, with an S2-R headshell, cartridges with a weight of up to 38g or integrated cartridges (e.g., the legendary Ortofon SPU cartridges) with a weight of up to 46g can be used.

High-quality, selected, and stable horizontal and vertical bearings ensure optimal tracking of the stylus. The tonearm is height-adjustable via a knurled nut. The internal wiring is made of high-quality silver. The tonearms of the M2-R series are available in 9-inch and 12-inch sizes.
