Even after more than 30 years on the reference throne, SME has once again significantly improved the Model 30. In the current MK2 version, the entire drive unit consisting of the motor, power supply, and control unit has been completely re-engineered. It features a custom-designed AC motor that is decoupled from the platter and tonearm and mounted optimally on the lower chassis, ensuring it has no negative impact on the playback of your analog treasures.

The tonearm of the Model 30/2 is an SME Series V, which was named the SME tonearm reference several years prior. The chassis of the SME Model 30 is designed as an elaborate sub-chassis: the tonearm, platter, and bearing are suspended from four pillars and decoupled via 60 silicone O-rings. Additionally, highly effective fluid-damped elements are integrated into the pillars to eliminate excess energy.

The power supply is further decoupled and housed in a separate enclosure. Furthermore, the control unit utilizes a specially developed DSP to provide the motor with clean power in an absolutely perfect sine wave. The perfect reference turntable.
