The Model 6 chassis is crafted from a new high-tech, high-density polymer material with resonance-absorbing and excellent sonic properties. The Model 6's platter, drive pulley, bearing, and spindle are manufactured by specialists at SME using in-house, ultra-precision machinery, meeting the highest standards of precision and durability for years of unadulterated musical enjoyment. The feet of the Model 6 are a highly effective combination of stable aluminum and a damping polymer from the aerospace industry.

The drive is powered by a newly developed AC motor, which receives its power supply via an external power supply and control unit to keep potential interference away from the tonearm and cartridge. To ensure the record sits firmly and vibration-free, the Model 6 also includes a high-quality aluminum record clamp.

The Model 6 is equipped with an improved version of the SME M2-9 tonearm. The tonearm tube is extremely rigid and features specialized internal damping. The tonearm is suitable for a wide variety of MM and MC cartridges weighing between 5-12 g. The headshell for cartridge mounting is made of lightweight and rigid magnesium-aluminum and allows for flexible azimuth adjustment.
