The chassis of the Model 6 Classic is crafted from a new high-tech, high-density polymer material with resonance-absorbing and excellent sonic properties. The platter, drive pulley, bearing, and spindle of the Model 6 Classic are manufactured by specialists at SME on their own ultra-precision machines, meeting the highest standards of precision and durability for years of untroubled musical enjoyment. The feet of the Model 6 Classic are a highly effective combination of stable aluminum and a damping polymer from the aerospace industry.

The drive system uses a newly developed AC motor, which receives its power supply via an external power supply unit and controller to keep potential interference away from the tonearm and cartridge. To ensure the record sits firmly and vibration-free, the Model 6 Classic also includes a high-quality aluminum record clamp.

The Model 6 Classic is supplied with the M2-9 R tonearm, the constantly improved successor to the Type 3009 tonearm that made SME famous worldwide over 60 years ago. The M2-9 R tonearm is designed for a wide range of different cartridge systems and can accommodate cartridge weights of up to 38* grams or integrated headshells of up to 46* grams. A perfect tool for the highest quality analog musical enjoyment.
