The Model 12 MK2 has been developed according to SME "Precision Engineering" principles and meets the highest demands for analog music reproduction. The completely redesigned motor and control unit with external power supply allow for ultra-precise adjustment and a new quality of drive stability.

The Model 12 MK2 is technically based on the SYNERGY model range, highly praised in numerous tests by the trade press, but is delivered without the integrated phono stage and cartridge. Experienced analog enthusiasts can thus play to their individual preferences when selecting individual components. Every single component was developed by experienced SME engineers and manufactured to the strictest tolerances. Superior workmanship, fine materials, and the craftsmanship of skilled hands form the foundation for years of musical enjoyment. The base of the Model 12 consists of solid aluminum and is milled in an elaborate and lengthy process on an ultra-precise high-tech 5-axis CNC machine in 120 minutes.

The standard tonearm is an SME 309 featuring high-quality 'Crystal Cable' internal wiring made of pure monocrystalline silver. Alternatively, the Model 12A MK2 can also be supplied factory-fitted with other SME tonearms such as the M2-9R, SME IV*, or SME V*.
