The Model 60 is the essence of 75 years of experience in the design and manufacture of the highest quality analog audio components. The Model 60 is the most technically advanced SME turntable. It is characterized by extremely high manufacturing quality, precision-engineered components with the tightest tolerances, a striking design, and a range of unique, non-painted finishes.

The development of the Model 60 was a true challenge for the SME engineering team: the bar, which had been set for more than three decades, was high—to significantly improve upon and supersede the previous reference turntable, the Model 30. Independent tests by the international hi-fi press certify the Model 60’s clear reference status—the mission was therefore successfully accomplished.

The Model 60 is distinguished by many innovations in detail:
- Decoupled feet with multi-point high-tech material isolation, including height adjustment
- New sub-chassis with horizontal and vertical damping
- Hydraulically damped main bearing
- Acoustically optimized main chassis, sub-chassis, and platter
- Highly advanced electronic speed control with AC motor and separate power supply.

The legendary SME Series V tonearm has been significantly improved sonically through the use of a non-metallic tonearm tube made from a new high-density, high-rigidity polymer resin material. With low effective mass and a significantly reduced resonance signature, the Series V tonearm has been further developed into the Series VA (Advanced) and has since become the new benchmark as a reference tonearm.
