Product description
Product description
The Elector is the perfect preamplifier for the pure analog technology enthusiast. With a motorized, remote-controllable volume knob, tape monitor path, retro-look VU meters, and the all-surpassing VOLTAiR technology, it brings analog sources to life.
The massive 45mm volume knob, milled from aluminum, is a haptic highlight. Its mass, in combination with the motorized Alps RK27 "Big Blue" potentiometer, creates a wonderful "spoon in honey" turning sensation.
The red indicator LED ensures the volume parameter is easily visible even in darkened environments.
The volume control can be operated with any infrared remote control.
The Elector learns to communicate with it at the simple push of a button.
Up to six (6!) analog stereo sources can be connected to the Elector.
The Elector offers three pairs of balanced inputs with XLR jacks and three standard inputs with gold-plated RCA jacks.
Two mechanical VU meters visualize the input levels for the left and right audio channels.
Use the VU switch to optimize the display for different signal levels.
A tape monitor circuit is pretty retro.
Who still has a cassette recorder or a reel-to-reel machine?
Who still loops in an equalizer?
Asked differently:
Who would like to, but can't because no manufacturer offers a tape monitor circuit anymore?
Well. Those who want to can do so again now.
Today's audio levels are significantly higher than they used to be, and many a recorder could be "overdriven."
The Elector offers a sophisticated solution for this as well. With a simple push of a button, the level to the recorder is lowered by 10 dB and raised by 10 dB after the recorder. Et voilà.
Everything under control – AMP CTL
Via AMP CTL, the standby mode of devices with a 12V trigger input can be switched on and off together with the Elector. This allows, for example, the SPL Performer s800, Performer m1000, or Performer s1200 power amplifiers to be ideally integrated into the set-up.
Sounds good
For all devices in our Professional Fidelity series, we develop not just according to plans from the start, but also by ear. Many of the fundamental components are installed on the circuit boards using through-hole technology (THT). This allows us to ensure that we use the components that sound the best.
VOLTAiR technology
120V technology is our reference technology. It is unique worldwide in the audio sector because it operates with a DC voltage of 120 volts. This corresponds to four times the operating voltage of IC-based semiconductor op-amps. We call this unsurpassed technology our VOLTAiR technology in our Professional Fidelity series.
The highest possible audio quality requires the highest possible audio operating voltage.
120V technology works with +/- 60 V. To be able to handle such a high voltage, we have developed special proprietary op-amps that can work with a DC voltage of +/- 60 V – the SPL 120V-SUPRA op-amps. This high voltage would destroy conventional components and op-amps.
120V technology achieves exceptional technical specifications and sonic advantages. Technically, in terms of dynamic range, signal-to-noise ratio, and overload resistance. Sonically, in terms of wealth of detail and an absolutely relaxed listening experience.
Incidentally, the "120V" in the name of the technology has nothing to do with the local mains voltage from the wall outlet. This refers to the internal operating voltage of the device used to process audio signals.
The mains voltage from the wall outlet is transformed to the required secondary voltage in the device's internal linear power supply with a toroidal transformer. Rectifiers convert this AC voltage into the DC voltages required by the audio device.
Comparison
Most audio devices operate with an internal operating voltage of +/-15 volts and can thus process a maximum input level of +21.5 dBu. If, for example, a DAC has an output level of +22 dBu at 0 dBFS, signal peaks in the music material would cause distortion in the device's input stage. All components in the audio device often work at their limit. The result is an agitated sound that causes stress and faster listener fatigue.
