Performer s1200
The powerful stereo power amplifier
The large stereo power amplifier leads even the most demanding loudspeakers into previously unheard soundscapes. With an output power of 2 x 520 W (4 Ω) [2 x 550 W (2 Ω); 2 x 300 W (8 Ω)], this purely analog power amplifier controls any loudspeaker with ease.
Thanks to VOLTAiR technology, the performance of the s1200 is detailed, lively, honest, and of superior musical sound.
Customize
In addition to the choice of the base color black, red, or silver, there are other ways to adapt the Performer s1200 to individual design preferences.
With the included black, red, and silver faceplates, a total of nine different color combinations can be realized.
The faceplates are attached using a strong neodymium magnet. Therefore, no tools are required for changing them.
Better safe than sorry
The Performer s1200 has a protection circuit against DC voltage and one against overheating.
If DC voltage is detected, the output stage of the s1200 switches off automatically and the Protect LED lights up red.
To protect the Performer s1200 in the unlikely event of overheating, a temperature sensor on the heat sinks continuously monitors the temperature of the device.
The TEMP LED lights up yellow if the Performer s1200 gets too hot. As a result, the output stage switches off and the fans run at a high speed to cool down the device.
Free choice
The Performer s1200 has one stereo pair of XLR and RCA inputs each. This makes it compatible with all preamplifiers on the market without the use of adapters. The corresponding stereo input can be selected via the input select switch on the back.
Trim it fit
Referring to the Performer s1200, "fit" means adjusted.
And you can adjust the input sensitivity in 0.5 dB increments. From 0 dB to -5.5 dB.
Unlike a panoramic potentiometer in a preamplifier, this is the audiophile solution for acoustically problematic rooms or loudspeaker setups. The optimal operating range of the loudspeakers and preamplifier can also be ideally adjusted this way.
Strong connection
The loudspeaker binding posts can accommodate both banana plugs and stranded wire with a diameter of up to 4 mm. Thus, any common type of loudspeaker cable can be used. However, we do not recommend connecting a loudspeaker with an impedance of less than 2 ohms.
Trigger me
The standby mode of the power amplifier can be switched on and off using the AMP CTL connection between an SPL Professional Fidelity preamplifier, such as the Director Mk2.
To do this, connect the 3.5 mm jack sockets with a cable with 3.5 mm mono or stereo jack plugs. Preamplifiers from other manufacturers can also switch the standby mode of the Performer s1200 on and off thanks to its 12 V trigger input.
Plays in its own class
Conventional solid-state power amplifiers quickly work at the limit of the components used. This causes unpleasant distortion. Tube power amplifiers also distort in this limit range, but this manifests itself in a softer distorted sound image.
Thanks to VOLTAiR technology, the Performer s1200 can process significantly higher levels than regular solid-state or tube power amplifiers without distortion. All components work continuously in the optimal operating range. The result is a very pleasant, natural, and relaxed listening experience. Enjoy your music in every detail – without listener fatigue.
Full power ahead
In the Performer s1200, separate voltage and power amplification stages ensure a stable operating point for the Class AB amplifier circuit.
Thanks to their own negative feedback paths, interactions from the loudspeaker to the input stage are also excluded. This allows the SPL VOLTAiR technology to play out its full performance.
Keep a cool head
Inside the Performer s1200, the six fans usually do not work at all, because 90% of the heat is dissipated passively via massive heat sinks.
Should it ever get really loud for a really long time, the processor-controlled fans remain virtually inaudible at just 19 dB(A).
Sounds good
For all devices in the Professional Fidelity series, we develop not only according to plan but also by ear from the very beginning. Many of the basic components are mounted on the circuit boards using through-hole technology (THT). This allows us to ensure that we can use the components that sound the best.
