The compact stereo power amplifier

This small, purely analog stereo power amplifier shows everyone that size doesn't necessarily have to do with greatness. With 2 x 285 W (4 Ω) [2 x 185 W (8 Ω)] or 1 x 450 W (8 Ω, Bridge Mode) of output power, it has every loudspeaker under control.

Thanks to VOLTAiR technology, the performance of the s800 is detailed, lively, honest, and of musically outstanding sound.

Better safe than sorry
The Performer s800 features protective circuitry against DC voltage and overheating.

If DC voltage is detected, the s800's output stage switches off automatically and the Protect LED lights up red. To protect the Performer s800 in the unlikely event of overheating, a temperature sensor on the heat sinks continuously monitors the device's temperature.

The TEMP LED lights up yellow if the Performer s800 gets too hot and switches it off until the power amplifier has cooled down again.

What goes around
comes around.

This saying inspired us to send the input signal back out of the power amplifier as well.
This makes it easy to drive another power amplifier, for example for bi-amping operation.

Trim to fit
In the context of the Performer s800, "fit" means adjusted. And you can adjust the input sensitivity in 0.5 dB increments, from 0 dB to -5.5 dB.

Unlike a panorama potentiometer in a preamplifier, this is the audiophile solution for acoustically difficult rooms or loudspeaker setups.

Furthermore, loudness differences between loudspeakers can be elegantly balanced during bi-amping operation.

Strong connection

The loudspeaker binding posts can accommodate both banana plugs and stranded wire up to 4 mm in diameter. This allows for any common type of loudspeaker cable to be used, and even both connection types simultaneously in bi-wiring mode. However, we do not recommend connecting a loudspeaker with an impedance of less than 4 ohms.

Bridging

Both power amplifier channels can also be bridged into a single power amplifier using the Bridge Mode switch.
This allows for 450 W at 8 ohms in mono operation. In Bridge Mode, only the two positive terminals are connected to the loudspeaker.

Trigger me

The standby mode of the power amplifier can be toggled on and off via the AMP CTL connection between an SPL Professional Fidelity preamplifier, such as the Director Mk2, and the amplifier.

To do this, connect the 3.5 mm jack sockets using a cable with 3.5 mm mono or stereo plugs. It is not recommended to connect devices from other manufacturers to the AMP CTL socket of the Performer s800.

In a class of its own

Conventional solid-state power amplifiers quickly work at the limits of the components used. Unpleasant distortion occurs. Tube power amplifiers also distort at these limits, though this manifests as a softer, more distorted sound image.

Thanks to VOLTAiR technology, the Performer s800 can process significantly higher levels than regular solid-state or tube power amplifiers without distortion. All components work continuously in their optimal operating range. The result is a very pleasant, natural, and relaxed listening experience. Full power ahead

In the Performer s800, separated voltage and power amplification stages ensure a stable operating point for the amplifier circuit, which operates in Class AB.

Thanks to individual feedback paths for each, repercussions from the loudspeaker to the input stage are also excluded. This allows the SPL VOLTAiR technology to play out its full performance.

Sounds good

For all devices in the Professional Fidelity series, we develop not just according to plan, but also by ear from the very beginning. Many of the fundamental components are mounted on the circuit boards using through-hole technology (THT). This ensures that we can use the components that sound the best.
