Right in the middle – With great sound!

The mid-sized SPL Performer s900 stereo power amplifier is based on the large SPL Performer s1200 stereo power amplifier in terms of component selection and conceptual design.

Here, sonic greatness meets performance data that perfectly matches high-resolution, yet not excessively power-hungry, speakers of any size. With an amplifier output of 2 x 370 W (4 Ω) [2 x 420 W (2 Ω); 2 x 200 W (8 Ω)], it truly provides enough power reserves to powerfully drive any speaker.

Despite its compact height, the Performer s900 stereo power amplifier has a headroom that is second to none thanks to SPL VOLTAiR technology, and it treats you to a detailed, lively, honest, and sonically superior sound.

Conventional solid-state power amplifiers quickly work at the limits of the components used, resulting in unsightly distortion. Tube power amplifiers also distort in this limit range – however, this manifests itself in a rather softer distorted sound image.

Thanks to VOLTAiR technology, the Performer s900 can process significantly higher levels without distortion. All components work continuously in their optimal operating range. Full speed ahead

In the Performer s900, separate voltage and power amplification stages ensure a stable operating point for the amplifier circuit, which operates in Class AB. Thanks to its own feedback path, any influence from the speaker on the input stage is also excluded. This allows SPL VOLTAiR technology to deliver its full performance.

Free choice

The Performer s900 has one stereo pair of XLR and RCA inputs each.
This makes it compatible with all preamplifiers on the market without the use of adapters.
The corresponding stereo input can be selected via the input select switch on the rear panel.

Trim to fit

With regard to the Performer s900, "fit" means adjusted. And you can adjust the input sensitivity in 0.5 dB increments, from 0 dB to -5.5 dB. Unlike a panorama potentiometer in a preamplifier, this is the audiophile solution for acoustically problematic rooms or speaker setups. The optimal operating range of the speakers and preamplifier can also be set ideally this way.

Strong connection

The speaker binding posts can accommodate both banana plugs and stranded wire up to 4 mm in diameter. No speaker with an impedance of less than 2 ohms may be connected.

AMP CTL

The standby mode of the power amplifier can be switched on and off using the AMP CTL connection between a preamplifier, such as the Director Mk2, Elector, Phonitor x, or Crossover. To do this, connect the 3.5 mm jack sockets using a cable with 3.5 mm mono or stereo jack plugs. Preamplifiers from other manufacturers can also switch the Performer s900's standby mode on and off thanks to its 12 V trigger input.

Better safe than sorry

The Performer s900 has a protection circuit against DC voltage and one against overheating.
If direct current (DC) is detected, the output stage of the Performer s900 automatically switches off and the Protect LED on the front lights up red. To protect the Performer s900 in the unlikely event of overheating, a temperature sensor on the heat sinks continuously monitors the device's temperature. The TEMP LED lights up yellow if the Performer s900 gets too hot and switches it off until the power amplifier has cooled down again.
