The Phonitor se focuses on the essentials –
without compromising on quality.

It features the same audio signal amplification as its bigger brothers, the Phonitor x and Phonitor xe.
With the optional DA converter, it can also play directly from digital sources.
The Phonitor Matrix offers two of the most common settings as switchable presets, allowing for speaker-like listening via headphones.

Highest sound quality thanks to VOLTAiR technology.

Everything under control
The volume is adjusted using a solid, aluminum-milled rotary knob. The Alps RK27 “Big Blue” potentiometer provides a pleasant “spoon in honey” feel.

In addition to an analog source, three more digital sources can be connected to the Phonitor se with the optional DAC768xs.

Headphone output with power

The Phonitor se features a 6.35 mm jack for connecting headphones with a jack plug.
This socket provides up to 2 x 5 watts of output power. This means that even power-hungry headphones like magnetostats or electrostats can be driven effortlessly.

The revolution: Phonitor Matrix
The Phonitor Matrix is the revolution in headphone amplifiers.

Thanks to the Phonitor Matrix, music can be experienced through headphones as if it were being reproduced through speakers. The fatiguing super-stereo effect is a thing of the past.

Enjoy your music without listener fatigue and exactly the way it was meant to be heard.

Unlike the larger Phonitor models, where the opening angle of the stereo stage can be selected via the “Angle” switch, this parameter is fixed at a standard value of 30° on the Phonitor se. The “Crossfeed” parameter can be set in two stages – “C1” and “C2”. “C2” offers a higher crossfeed than “C1”.

Free choice

The analog input of the Phonitor se is equipped with gold-plated RCA sockets.
With the optional DAC768xs, three more digital sources are added: USB, COAX, and OPTICAL. (!)

PCM audio is received in S/P-DIF format both coaxially (RCA) and optically (Toslink F06).
Both PCM audio and DSD audio can be converted via USB.

The DAC automatically detects the sample rate and resolution of the digital playback source. Regardless of whether a streamer, computer, or CD player is connected. No further settings are required on the Phonitor se.

The DAC768xs

The highly acclaimed AKM AK4490 Velvet Sound™ premium DAC chip is used as the converter chip in the optional digital-to-analog converter, reproducing the finest sound details thanks to its architecture.

It converts PCM audio with a resolution of 32 bits and a sample rate of up to 768 kHz, which corresponds to 16 times CD resolution. Direct Stream Digital is also supported up to a resolution of DSD4 or DSD256.

Unlike the DAC768, which is installed in the Director Mk2 or available as an option for the Phonitor xe, the DAC768xs does not offer an AES/EBU digital input. The SPL DLP120 with VOLTAiR technology was also omitted in the DAC768xs. Nevertheless, it offers great performance that is second to none in this class.
