For many decades, the Stax manufactory has set the standard for music reproduction via headphones. With the new SRM-270S driver amplifier and the SR-X1 headphones, the Japanese company is now making a large part of the extraordinary sound experience of its top models accessible to a wider audience.

The new entry-level Stax model SR-X1 is based on the traditional round ear speakers and adds modern design concepts. The electrostatic driver is equipped with a newly designed medium-sized round unit and sounds absolutely neutral. Unlike its predecessors, the diaphragm sits directly in the housing, which has allowed Stax to further minimize the "seams" between the individual parts. This explains the increased precision and the razor-sharp imaging focus of the new SR-X1.

The open, slotted housing features uneven thickness and a gently curved shape, allowing sound waves to pass through smoothly and reducing distortion.

Revised headband design and improved fit

The use of metal for the frame structure prevents unnecessary resonance. Stax has also significantly improved the rigidity of the headband assembly, which is all too often neglected in this price range. At the same time, the SR-X1 remains light enough to prevent fatigue even during long listening sessions. The ear pads are made of soft sheepskin. Underneath is a new type of memory foam that further improves the fit and comfort.
