The SR-007S is the latest generation in the tradition-rich 007 series from STAX – a product line that has set standards in the field of electrostatic headphones since its introduction. Building on the proven SR-007 and SR-007A models, the SR-007S has been consistently refined – with a focus on acoustic fine-tuning, mechanical precision, and supreme wearing comfort.

A new heart

At the center of the innovations are revised membranes and further developed fixed electrodes. These have been refined compared to the predecessor models: the openings in the large round electrodes have been reduced by 20%, which was realized through a high-precision etching process. The result is an even more balanced sound image with increased detail reproduction and improved control in the bass range.

Nothing wobbles

A key design feature is the new Anti-Resonance Structure (ARS). Inspired by the flagship SR-X9000, a redesigned headband with a seamless stainless steel plate ensures greater rigidity in the housing and significantly reduced susceptibility to vibrations. This is complemented by a movable hinge design that optimally adapts to the head shape, thereby improving wearing comfort – without the need for mechanical adjustment mechanisms.

Cloud-soft

For direct contact with the ear, high-quality genuine sheepskin pads are used. These are mounted on swivels and improve both the fit and acoustic properties. The material reduces distracting reflections and thus contributes to more precise spatial imaging. The also-revised inner cushion complements sound absorption and provides an even clearer sound image with more depth.

Replace instead of discard

The detachable, low-capacitance cable allows for easy replacement when needed and contributes to the product's longevity. Like all top models from STAX, the SR-007S is manufactured in Japan – with the utmost care and quality control.

STAX SRM-700S: Proven, improved

STAX has never chased short-lived trends, and with the replacement of the successful STAX SRM-007t II and SRM-727 II driver amplifiers (since 2006), STAX remains true to itself and this motto. The two new driver amplifiers, SRM-700T and SRM-700S, benefit from technologies found in the flagship SRM-T8000: In the new SRM-700T tube driver amplifier, which operates without output transformers (OTL), STAX utilizes two 6SN7 double triodes and non-inductive Vishay Co. wire-wound resistors, as well as specially manufactured low-noise dual FETs in the first amplifier stage, which are also used in its transistor sibling, the STAX SRM-700S. In the latter, STAX has implemented J-FETs in the second amplifier stage for the first time ever in a STAX driver amplifier. J-FETs are particularly suitable for low-noise amplification, even for the most power-hungry transducers.

In this way, STAX catapults the performance of both models far beyond their price class. Visually, too, STAX has modernized the amplifiers and tailored them an extremely elegant "outfit."

The SRM-700S is the sonic alternative to the STAX SRM-700T at the same extremely high quality level. Compared to its sibling, it is slightly less colorful and resolving, but in return offers more control and tightness in the bass.

Simultaneous operation of two STAX headphones is possible on the STAX SRM-700S.

Driver amplifiers for electrostatic headphones from STAX can be operated via the recording output (Tape/Record Out or Fixed Out) or any other fixed-level output (Pre Out/Fixed Out) of a preamplifier or integrated amplifier. Of course, a CD player or a turntable with a separate phono preamplifier can also serve directly as a signal source. The music signal present at the input of the driver amplifier can be looped through, allowing you to supply another device with music signals. If a source device is to be connected digitally, a separate D/A converter is required. Connection is either unbalanced or balanced.
