Electrostatic precision, further developed

The SR-007S is the latest generation in STAX's tradition-steeped 007 series – a product line that has been setting standards in the field of electrostatic headphones since its introduction. Building on the proven SR-007 and SR-007A models, the SR-007S has been consistently further developed – with a focus on acoustic fine-tuning, mechanical precision, and maximum wearing comfort.

A new heart

At the center of the innovations are revised diaphragms as well as further developed fixed electrodes. These have been refined compared to the predecessor models: the openings in the large round electrodes have been reduced by 20%, which was realized through a high-precision etching process. The result is an even more balanced sound image with increased detail reproduction and improved control in the low-frequency range.

Nothing wobbles

A key design feature is the new Anti-Resonance Structure (ARS). Inspired by the flagship SR-X9000, a newly designed headband with a seamless stainless steel plate ensures greater rigidity in the housing and significantly reduced susceptibility to vibration. This is complemented by a movable hinge design that optimally adapts to the shape of the head, thereby improving wearing comfort – without mechanical adjustment mechanisms.

Soft as a cloud

High-quality genuine sheepskin ear pads are used for direct contact with the ear. These are pivot-mounted and improve both the fit and the acoustic properties. The material reduces distracting reflections and thus contributes to a more precise spatial imaging. The also revised inner padding complements sound absorption and provides an even clearer sound image with more depth.

Replace instead of discard

The detachable, low-capacitance cable allows for easy replacement if necessary and contributes to the product's longevity. Like all top models from STAX, the SR-007S is manufactured in Japan – with the utmost care and quality control.

STAX SRM-700T: Proven, improved

STAX has never chased after short-lived trends, and with the replacement of the STAX SRM-007t II and SRM-727 II driver amplifiers, which have been successful since 2006, STAX remains true to itself and this motto. The two new driver amplifiers, SRM-700T and SRM-700S, benefit from technologies used in the flagship SRM-T8000: In the new tube driver amplifier SRM-700T, which operates without output transformers (OTL), STAX uses two 6SN7 double triodes and non-inductive wire-wound resistors from Vishay Co., as well as specially manufactured low-noise dual FETs in the first amplifier stage, which are also utilized in the transistor sibling, the STAX SRM-700S. It is here that STAX has implemented J-FETs in the second amplifier stage for the first time ever in a STAX driver amplifier. J-FETs are suitable for particularly low-noise amplification of even the most power-hungry transducers.

In this way, STAX catapults the performance of both models far beyond their price range. STAX has also modernized the amplifiers visually, tailoring an extremely elegant dress for them.

The STAX SRM-700T is the tube-equipped alternative to the STAX SRM-700S and plays at the same extremely high level of quality. By comparison, the SRM-700T shines with a more colorful, finely resolved sound image with punchy bass.

Simultaneous operation of two STAX headphones is possible on the STAX SRM-700T.

Driver amplifiers for electrostatic headphones from STAX can be operated via the recording output (Tape/Record Out or Fixed Out) or another output with a fixed level (Pre Out/Fixed Out) of a preamplifier or integrated amplifier. Of course, a CD player or a turntable with a separate phono preamplifier can also serve directly as a signal source. The music signal present at the input of the driver amplifier can be looped through, allowing you to supply another device with music signals. If a source device is to be connected digitally, a separate D/A converter is required.
