Off to new shores of sound!

For many decades, the Stax manufactory has set the standard for music reproduction via headphones. With the new SRM-270S driver unit and the SR-X1 headphones, the Japanese company is now making a large part of the extraordinary sound experience of its top models accessible to a wider audience.

The SRM-270S is naturally particularly well-suited for the new SR-X1 – the first entry-level Stax headphone with round electrostatic elements. It features high-quality RCA jacks that guarantee the best signal quality for the amplifier's sophisticated circuitry, and a three-millimeter thick aluminum front panel that feels simply fantastically solid.

To achieve particularly effective heat dissipation, Stax has enlarged the extruded aluminum chassis. The latest low-noise FET was selected for the first stage of the amplifier, and an emitter follower circuit with brushes was used in the output stage. PARALLEL OUT terminals are installed for the input, allowing for easy connection to your HiFi system.

The new entry-level Stax model, the SR-X1, is inspired by traditional round ear speakers while adding modern design concepts. The electrostatic driver is equipped with a newly designed medium-sized round unit and sounds absolutely neutral. Unlike its predecessors, the diaphragm is seated directly in the housing, which has allowed Stax to further minimize the "seams" between the individual parts. This explains the increased precision and the razor-sharp imaging focus of the new SR-X1.

The open, slotted-structure housing features varying thickness and a gently curved shape, allowing sound waves to pass through smoothly and reducing distortion.

Revised headband design and improved fit.

The metal of the frame structure prevents resonance. Stax has also significantly improved the rigidity of the headband assembly, which is all too often neglected in this price range. At the same time, the SR-X1 remains light enough to prevent fatigue even during long listening sessions. The ear pads are made of soft sheepskin. Underneath lies a novel memory foam that further improves the fit and comfort.
