Electrostatic headphones: Stax SR-X1

For many decades, the Stax manufacture has set standards in music reproduction via headphones. With the new SRM-D10 MK2 driver amplifier and the SR-X1 headphones, the Japanese company is now making a large part of the extraordinary sound experience of its top models accessible to a wider audience.

The new Stax entry-level model SR-X1 is based on the traditional round ear speakers and adds modern design concepts. The electrostatic driver is equipped with a newly designed medium-sized round unit and sounds absolutely neutral. Unlike its predecessors, the diaphragm sits directly in the housing, which has allowed Stax to further minimize the "seams" between the individual parts. This explains the increased precision and the razor-sharp imaging focus of the new SR-X1.

The open, slotted-structured housing features uneven thickness and a gently curved shape, allowing sound waves to pass through smoothly and reducing distortion.
