In the resonance-optimized housing of the new Oyster cartridges (Moonstone, Olympia & Rainier), Sumiko has further reduced the output voltage for the Amethyst to lower background noise. The stylus is equipped with a nude Line-Contact diamond and could not act with more sensitivity. It reaches every corner and angle of your record's groove and processes this information with extreme precision. The Amethyst can easily keep pace with comparable MC designs. It is shockingly smooth-running and as transparent as possible, skillfully tracking even the most complex passages of your LP collection. Expect effortless dynamics, depth, and clarity against a black background, impeccably realistic transients, and images that project from the soundstage while remaining naturally positioned.

From Oyster to Reference, every Sumiko phono cartridge is hand-crafted in Yokohama, Japan—near the waters where the namesake oysters reside. Sumiko selects the finest materials by ear, which together provide a performance that has enlightened generations of listeners. Each design is thoroughly tested until it is perfect. Production is then carried out by world-class artisans with a shared eye for precision and quality.

Suitable for light to medium-mass tonearms. The Amethyst can be fitted with an RS78 stylus for playing shellac records.
