DESIGN

IsoTek’s EVO3 Super Titan is likely the most powerful cleaning system for the power supply of audiophile hi-fi components in the world. It was developed specifically for the requirements of high-quality power amplifiers and—provided a suitable domestic power supply is available—it is twice as powerful in terms of current delivery as the EVO3 Titan, as the 20A version of the Super Titan enables a continuous power output of up to 4,600 Watts. The power cleaning network reduces common and differential mode interference by approximately 85 dB—across the entire audio frequency range down to 5 Hz.

The EVO3 Super Titan operates using a newly designed and improved version of IsoTek’s unique Direct-Coupled© circuit technology. Together with a group of four seven-stage filters in a combined series and parallel configuration, it forms a “super” power filter whose design is significantly superior to that of a single larger filter. To cover an extremely wide frequency band, the circuits consist of customized components. The audible benefits: The Super Titan dramatically reduces the noise floor and provides a larger soundstage with improved separation between individual instruments, a more airy and spacious reproduction, and more precise timing. Bass is deeper and more contoured, resulting in a sound image that is overall somewhat more holographic.

The Super Titan drastically reduces both differential and common mode noise, as well as cross-contamination between connected components. This is achieved by multiple power cleaning stages for each outlet socket. Most power filters of this type have interconnected, series-linked outlets—which is not particularly clever, as the differential mode noise generated by the connected electronics then overlaps from one outlet to another. The electrical architecture and design of the Super Titan are significantly superior to such filters.

The Super Titan’s exceptionally rigid outer housing, made of aluminum, is supported by a specially developed support structure called ISIS© (Independent System Isolation Support). The main unit is clamped between two fixed top and bottom plates, each consisting of two ultra-dense boards with a special resonance-damping material in between. The entire structure rests on four massive aluminum pillars.

ISIS© was developed in collaboration with Kurt Olbert, the founder of Clearlight Audio and a recognized expert in the development of special materials for audio applications. ISIS© fulfills two tasks: Firstly, it reduces the effects of airborne vibrations and microphonics, as well as infrasonic vibrations and resonances within the device itself, which adversely affect the performance of the electronics. Secondly, its shape, strength, and resonance-damping properties provide a perfect platform on which other components can be placed, and its stackable design saves space when more than one IsoTek unit is used.

The EVO3 Super Titan measures 500 mm in width, 500 mm in depth, and 300 mm in height. On its rear, there are four completely independent high-current outlet sockets for operating power amplifiers, monoblocks, active speakers, or a subwoofer. Through the System Link, additional IsoTek power cleaners can be added and powered, e.g., an EVO3 Genesis or EVO3 Super Nova.

KERP© (Kirchhoff’s Equal Resistance Path) ensures uniform resistance and an identical power supply for all outlets. No outlet receives power before the next, as is common in other products with series-connected outlets.

The internal wiring meets the highest standards—high-purity, silver-plated Ohno Continuous Cast solid-core copper strands are used, ensuring low resistance and the transmission of high current levels. The conductor is first surrounded by a spiral of fluorinated ethylene propylene (FEP), then protected by an extruded FEP dielectric, creating a virtual air dielectric (FDA).
