V5 ELEKTRA

The V5 Elektra brings IsoTek’s legendary six-way power cleaner to a new, more accessible price point. The V5 Elektra is therefore the most cost-effective power cleaner of its type that money can currently buy. The new V5 model features significantly increased amperage, with DC resistance approaching the ideal of zero ohms. Protection against power surges is four times the minimum requirement – 67,500 A instantaneous. Each of the 6 outputs has its own dedicated filter network, essentially six components in one box!

DESIGN

The V5 Elektra is the latest IsoTek power cleaner with six independent outlets, each featuring a dedicated filter network. The V5 Elektra is 450 mm wide, 350 mm deep, and 106 mm high. It features two independent high-current outlets (for all types of amplifiers) driven by a two-stage filter network consisting of both a choke and a double Pi-filter. Each of the four remaining outlets (for source components) features independent six-stage delta filter networks, delivering nearly 20 dB of power cleaning at 1 kHz (600 ohm reference), which improves to nearly 40 dB at 10 kHz—ten times higher than the recommended standard. An additional five independent filter stages are placed between each outlet in combination with IsoTek’s adaptive gating system, which is twice the size of that in the EVO3 Aquarius, to eliminate cross-contamination of differential mode noise between the individual sockets.

Thus, the V5 Elektra consists of six independent filter networks in one box. Most power filters of this type have interconnected outlets wired in series. This is a mistake and not particularly clever, as the differential mode noise generated by the connected electronics then overlaps from one outlet socket to the next. The electrical architecture and completely independent filters of the V5 Elektra’s outlets prevent this and are therefore superior.

Both differential mode and common mode noise are drastically reduced. Cross-contamination of connected components is also reduced to a minimum due to the multiple filters, one for each outlet socket. Most power filters connect the outlets to each other, wiring each in series. This is a mistake, as differential mode noise generated by your connected electronics is transmitted from one outlet socket to the next.

The electrical architecture and design of the V5 Elektra meet IsoTek’s high standard for purposeful design. The design and topology of the printed circuit board (PCB) feature twice the amount of copper compared to the industry standard and are additionally silver-plated to improve amperage and reduce resistance. Critical (bespoke) components have lower tolerances and thus lower inductance with improved power handling. This new circuitry offers twice the inductance and 40% more current compared to the EVO3 Aquarius. This contributes to a more open soundstage, micro-dynamics, and details with improved timing. A drastically improved DC resistance (DCR) has been achieved throughout the design. IsoTek’s goal here is to reduce DCR and bring performance closer to the zero-ohm ideal.

These technological improvements result in the V5 Elektra providing an absolute power of 10 A—a higher absolute power within what the power grid can supply and what the regulations for a 10-ampere product permit (nearly 16 A transient).

KERP © (Kirchhoff’s Equal Resistance Path) ensures equal resistance and equal power delivery to all sockets. The internal wiring meets the highest standard – using a unique 2 mm design with pure 6N oxygen-free copper strands, each silver-plated, offering low resistance and high amperage. Aerospace-grade fluorinated ethylene propylene (FEP) dielectric with very low dielectric resistance is used to protect the conductors and provides an ideal dielectric for the conductor contact for the internal power system.

A sequential protection system of up to 67,500 A also keeps your valuable equipment safe from power surges and spikes.

V5 Elektra also includes a System Link connection, which allows for the expansion of the existing 6 outlets while maintaining star-earthed wiring when using only one wall outlet for the entire system.

The internal wiring of IsoTek products is matched to IsoTek power cables. Critical, but often overlooked in audio, is maintaining the commonality of design and material properties of the cables used, whether it is a signal-carrying cable or a power cable network.
